About us - IAMWHY Clothing Company

The story starts in 2004 with three boardriders, faced with dead end jobs and just wanting to snowboard, yup the bug had bitten us hard. We started throwing around ideas, designs and dreams of a company with an ethos that makes every worker a part of the business. These ideas, dreams and designs evolved into reality in 2004 with pen to paper, fingers to keyboards, IAMWHY grew in the midnight hours. Rooms just seemed to dissappear in our home with box loads of stock just taking over every room not to mention the massive screen printing machine in the conservertry, the shed became the wash out room and flip of the coin Mike’s room became the exposure room, lovely… Later that year we finally got a dryer and moved screen printer into the garage, ‘man that was COLD’

In 2005, the rosy bubble burst with the onset of accountant’s fees, events, longer nights (at least Einstein cold get some shut eye) and things not going quite as planned, but IAMWHY was officially born.

Unfortunatly the lease was up at the spot we rented (sure glad they didn’t check up on us haha!) so anyway we had to move. We found a warehouse in here in Cornwall but at the last second the whole deal fell through, so we we’re back to printing at home but this time from the dinning room! I remember have to try hide the half ton screen printing machine every time the landlord came round, I even rigged it up on wheels for easy rolling!

Finally in 2007 we got a warehouse and haven’t looked back since. It’s been a rough ride, but when you look back it’s been pretty awesome. Making stupid, honest mistakes, realising it’s not easy to create a brand, watching your brand develop, taking a viewpoint on environmental issues.

It really does evolve in front of you. Believing in your brand, being passionate about your brand, being your brand, growing your brand has to be at the same time the most tiring, the most rewarding, the most draining and the most uplifting experience.

It certainly does not make you rich. It gives you grey hairs, endless hours of work, gone are the spontaneous holidays and the long lazy Sundays. In return it gives you a sense of fulfilment, pride, loyalty and it’s yours to share. IAMWHY, because I am.

The IAMWHY range is designed inhouse and we print every item to your order, each garment is individually printed by Mike or myself. We use a manual printing machine, this means every item printed will be slightly different from the previous one, making it unique for each customer.

We source environmentally friendly suppliers and fairwear suppliers whenever possible to promote ethical trade. 90% of the 2009 IAMWHY range is fairwear & environmentally friendly, which we are quite proud of.

The IAMWHY range has styles to suit all needs from washed hoodies to longsleeve tees, vintage tees to urban style shirts and vest for men, the ladies range consists of halternecks, vests, vintage tees, longer length tees, different necklines and washed hoodies.

IAMWHY clothing company sells Surf, Skate and Snowboard clothing with an edge for men and ladies. The company slogan IAMWHY, because i am speaks for itself.
